Overview
The Hospital Doula Education Association Training Program is an all-inclusive training led by experts in public heath, maternal mental health, spiritual care, critical care medicine and research, and professional doulas. Sessions including the attendance-mandatory immersive experience are all held in the Central Standard Time zone out of Rochester, MN USA. This hybrid learning includes educational webinars, skill development with peer coaching practice and minimum of two faculty-mentored interactions, as well as one-on-one mentor sessions and clinical experience practice.
Intended Audience
This course is for trained doulas who desire to work in a professional team setting with a collaborative clinical approach.
Prerequisites
Participants must hold a minimum of a high school degree, paired with a previous doula training
-OR- a bachelor's degree
• A possible exception may be made for registrants with experience in a health and wellness related field. A waiver form will need to be completed at the time of application.
Fluency in written and spoken English is essential for success in the program and to ensure patient/client safety.
• Registrants must be able to demonstrate objective competency in English to participate fully in the discussions and assignments.

4. Accepted learners will receive instructions on how to finish registration and pay for the course.

• Payment in full is due upon registration
5. Space is limited. Priority will be determined by the date full payment is received ($1750).
Cirriculm
The HDEA Training Program includes three components – a 6-session online training, a 2-day immersive workshop experience, and peer-supported clinical practice. The clinical component consists of shadowing-opportunity to facilitate the practice of skills and client interaction with peers. Upon successful completion of the coursework, students must pass both a written and a practical examination.
The Doula Training prepares doulas to work as professionals within diverse settings by:
• Combining virtual community learning with individualized mentor feedback and peer group practice to maximize the potential for growth and feedback.
• Providing opportunities for group interaction and practice
• Regards individual needs via a flexible schedule
Grading and evaluation in the HDEA Doula Training uses these tools:
• Demonstration of skills
• Self-assessment exercises
• Peer reviews
Completion of all elements of the HDEA Doula Training Program makes doulas eligible for Hospital Doula Education Association Certification.
